Tuesday, January 26, the group behind the call to end marijuana prohibition in Vermont released a TV Ad starring former Attorney General Kimberly Cheney. It aired statewide thru WCAX, CNN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC and will continue till Sunday.

GreenWay Vermont End Marijuana Prohibition in Vermont Goes On ScreenIt features the former top law enforcement official of Vermont, entitled “Time to End Prohibition (Again)”. Cheney basically compares the current prohibitions on marijuana with the unsuccessful prohibition on alcohol. In the ad, former AG draws attention to the disastrous alcohol prohibition that caused the product to go underground and rouge. He also says that it is very similar to the marijuana prohibition, which is why most Vermonters agree for a more resolved approach on marijuana. He is referencing a September Castleton Polling Institute poll, that showed 56% support marijuana being regulated compared to the 34% opposing the proposal.

Kelly Cheney ended the ad by urging viewers to follow the cause and to contact state senators telling them it’s time to end marijuana prohibition in Vermont. Matt Simon, Montpelier-based New England political director of Marijuana Policy Project, produced the television ad on behalf of the Vermont Coalition to Regulate Marijuana.
